What We Do

The N.C.B. Foundation provides financial assistance for projects and, for the completion of studies. For education, financial aid is available in the form of CXC fee subsidies, grants and scholarships.

CXC POA/POB Fee Sponsorship

The Foundation currently sponsors the full cost of the examination fees for two CXC business subjects – Principles of Business (POB) and Principles of Accounts (POA). The Ministry of Education currently pays for four (4) CXC subjects; however, the minimum number of subjects that a student requires for consideration by colleges and universities is five (5) CXC subjects. Because of our CXC Fee Sponsorship Programme, every student – despite their economic situation – has the opportunity to meet the minimum requirements for entry into tertiary institutions.

To qualify for sponsorship, both schools and students must satisfy the following requirements:

  • For the school, the percentage of students sitting the examinations in the past two years must be 90% or higher;
  • Students, who show financial need based on the school’s assessment, must maintain an average of 70% or higher in the respective subject at the time of registration.

Application season for CXC POA/POB Fee Sponsorship is NOW OPEN! Remember, if you are a student, your school must first be eligible to receive the subsidy and you must have an average of 70% or higher in the subject.

To confirm if your school is eligible to benefit from our CXC POA/POB Fee Sponsorship Programme, consult the list of qualified schools. Click here to see the list of qualified schools. If your school's name is not listed, then one of the following conditions applies to you:

  • Your school is a new school, that is, the candidates are sitting CXC POA and or POB for the first time. Please note that ALL new schools automatically qualify for the subsidy.
  • Your school does not have 2 years' history sitting CXC POA and or POB. Please note that schools which sat POA and or POB for the first time last year must have a minimum sit rate of 90% to qualify.
  • Your school's sit rate in both subjects is below 90%. The primary criterion for the subsidy is a mimimun sit rate of 90% over the past 2 years, failing which, the school does not qualify.

Once your school qualifies, applying is easy! Please note that the school’s administration is responsible for completing and submitting application forms by following these simple steps:

  1. Download and complete the 2011 - 2012 CXC Application Form.
  2. Place the completed application form in a sealed package addressed to:

  3. Submit the package to N.C.B. Foundation’s office or the nearest NCB branch no later than Wednesday, November 14, 2011.
