The N.C.B. Foundation saw the opportunity to work with the Digicel Rising Stars contestants as a chance to show young people how they can be agents of change within their schools and communities. These contestants are now role models to young people across Jamaica. This project allows the contestants to demonstrate how they can use opportunities to effect change and impact development within their communities.
This year, viewers will have the opportunity to select their preferred project by voting via our website. The project that receives the most votes will be funded in addition to the project selected by the winner of the competition.
The vision of this partnership is one that promotes partnership; encourages volunteerism; and fosters the notion of “giving back” as a means of contributing to nation building. It is our hope that this will influence Jamaicans to look within their own communities, identify issues negatively impacting their lives - and challenge one another to work towards addressing them.
